    About Us

Take a Break from Modern Living

Adrian and Eva like you to feel at home. We are a dog friendly house and four-legged companions are also welcome.

A place to browse our books in the cosy library; play traditional boardgames, chess or the piano in the drawing room.

A place with open fires and congenial dinner table conversation.

Completely 'Off-Grid', our aim is to be as close to nature with as light an environmental imprint as possible.

Electricity comes from solar panels and is stored in newly developed SALTWATER batteries.

Our water is fresh from the hill spring with a reed bed for waste water.

All cleaning is done with chemical free Enjo products.

Red deer herds roam the nearby hills, eagles and osprey the skies.

Otters frequent the riverbanks and salmon and wild brown trout the lochs and steams.

Ancient hut circles are our nearest neighbours, brochs and Britain’s highest iron age hill fort are nearby.

    Rooms

Our cosy bedrooms are individually furnished, with ensuite shower or bath and all with stunning views over hills and lochs.

    Food & Drink

'Eat & Drink Local’ is our motto and, wherever possible, we source our food and drink from within the Northern Highlands.  Drop in for light lunches, where home-made venison pâte is often on the menu; for tea or coffee with freshly baked cake. Book for high tea and dinner.

    Things to Do

The Garvault makes a perfect base for hillwalking, cycling and road trips. Magnificent unspoilt scenery, fantastic beaches and historical sites without crowds are all within easy reach of the hotel.

    Fishing

The finest wild brown trout fishing can be had on the lochs and rivers nearby. Both bank and boat fishing available.
