This is ideal for an extended family, group of friends, hikers, fishers or for a special occasion/anniversary. The flow country offers fantastic opportunities for hiking, cycling, fishing the burns / lochs and day trips to Durness, John o' Groats, Ullapool and Dunrobin Castle. The nearest railway station is 12 miles away in the hamlet of Kinbrace, where collection can be arranged. In inclement weather, the house has welcoming wood burning stoves and an open fire in the library, with a selection of board games and musical instruments available for guests to use.
Garvault House is not your average house rental. The remote location and lack of mains facilities requires the presence of experienced staff on hand to keep the generator running and fresh spring water flowing through the taps. Being on hand, the friendly staff will also keep the stoves and fires burning as required and provide cooked breakfast. Evening meals are also available, from simple bar meals (at £12 a head) through to three course candle-lit dinners (£35 per person) and there is a licensed public bar.
